The Birmingham training session starts on Sunday, with a training session at the Academy of Sport in Wigan.
It is a long way from the city of more than 5.2 million people, but the team has plenty of work ahead.
The Birmingham City Football Club are training at the West Ham United Academy in the city.
The academy opened in the summer of 2018 and is one of the most popular for players to develop in England.
The team is led by manager Darren Ferguson and has the likes of Chris Smalling, Leroy Fer and Jordan Rhodes on board.
The Blues are also using a hybrid system with players in one position, another in another and one in a third.
The Academy is also a place to showcase players’ talents and to work on the fitness of the squad.
This has led to some players developing through the academy having to make a switch from the Premier League.
The club are expected to take the training ground on Sunday and the squad will head to the city for their pre-season training.
The players will get some time with the local community, which is where the first group will be made up.
This will be the first time Birmingham will take part in the pre-Season as they had not played since 2013.
The club were last in the Premier league in 2014-15, losing 1-0 to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.
Birmingham City will have three players on loan, and all of them are expected back in the club’s first team squad this season.
The trio of Michael Keane, Ben Chilwell and Alex Neil are all expected to return to the club, with goalkeeper Alex McCarthy also in contention to make the team.
The first team are expected in Birmingham on Sunday.
The Blues are still looking to sign another midfielder, but this could be the end of the road for defender Jordan Rhodes.
He has been linked with a move away from the club.
The 20-year-old is contracted to City until 2021 and is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic.
